The view of Social Workers has never been more in focus, with all the problems of press attention and bad errors of judgement within the Social Services; it is not a job that anyone could do, being both mentally and physically draining, in equal measure. However, a hardy bunch of professional's still find satisfaction in it, or why would they do it?
However, when you make the Social Services responsible for whole families future lives, an individual seeking employment as a social worker should have their past life rigorously checked by independent assessments, to include the above view. All serving Social workers should undergo an annual test to make sure they are still able to function as normally as possible, given some of the horrendous things they have to deal with.
I have been criticised for my view on the reasons why social workers do the job and their abilities, to some degree this is probably due to my anger at the Social Services attempt to destroy my family. I have tried to keep my feelings under control while hoping to warn others of the massive power social workers have. If your social worker is not as professional as he or she should be, proving it, is very difficult. (Please see the other Social services sections)
Some Social Workers are able to have independent thought, but some are fuelled by a hidden agenda of their own, or so addicted to "the system" they can not see the wood for the trees. Wisdom is far more important than education. If a social worker has to make a decision it will be made on the back of countless previous decisions many of which have no relevance to your particular case.
You should find the time to go through the figures for the Social Services Departments
and then do the same for the NSPCC. Pay particular attention to the ratio between
childcare costs and the number of "at risk" children, of note is the
Leeds authority per thousand on the register, compered to the rest of the country.
Go to the link page for all the staff and cost per authority figures.
Leaving the ridiculous fact regarding the NSPCC advertising, costing more than the monies put into child care, you would be right in wondering why so much unnecessary hysteria has been created.
Until you understand the need to show a cash conscious government your requirement for massive amounts of money, then you also come back to my first point, power corrupts, totally.
Be aware of this when expecting a completely unbiased view of your case from some so-called professionals. There are a few who can still think independently. If my family and I had not been abused by the system, I could even feel sorry for some of them, because they have to "toe" the line.
After this site has been up and running for a while I will return to this page
and go into detail, regarding the funding issues. Certain members of parliament
have already had some preliminary figures, so I have done my duty.
